Long time no see, tumblr! Anyone still here? :)
Thought I’d share my latest - fruit and vegetables re-imagined as watercolor characters.
There’s an amazing greengrocer near my London home, and for the last few months I have been going over there and picking green foods I found interesting and inspiring to create characters based on those.
Hope you like it!
And if you could spare a second to upvote my Bored Panda post that would be very nice of you ^_^

Orphans of TimeRebecca Bathory
A fashion photographer turned urban explorer has swapped modelling shoots for the allure of abandoned buildings. Rebecca Lillith Bathory, from London, travels around the world documenting haunting spaces such as derelict hospitals, schools and villas. The fine art photographer has been capturing abandoned locations since 2012 and her work has been a big hit on social media, attracting nearly 100,000 dedicated followers across her accounts. But despite the beauty of her images, she refuses to disclose the exact locations of her photographs in order to protect the space for other explorers and avoid tipping off security.

It was stopped in my tracks a few days ago when I stumbled upon the beautiful scripts of Cryptic. Looking for more information on the man behind the movement yielded few results: he’s quite under-the-radar preferring his work to speak for itself. Rather than an artists bio, you’ll find this lofty and ambitious statement on his website:
The Cryptik Movement is a public art campaign dedicated to helping humanity evolve towards greater awareness and understanding through the use of compelling, iconic imagery that demands both scrutiny and reverie. The purpose of this organization is to facilitate the development of a deeper, more meaningful philosophy of life.
I gather that Cyrptic the person is based in L.A. and that his calligraphy is actually highly stylised English. Deciphering it might be difficult, the script has many influences from ancient scripts to Cholo grafitti, but as an abstract, decorative motif it’s very attractive. The written work often transcribes mantras, quotes, and poems of Buddhist and Hindu origin. Judging by the tools used, it’s a mixture of calligraphy and lettering.
You’ll find a couple of interviews here, and more recently here.
The INTER | URBAN is public arts program in Cleveland, Ohio connecting public transit riders physically, socially, and culturally to their surroundings and some of the most important and difficult issues facing society currently.
Inspirations for the murals by artists such as Faith 47, Jeff Gress, Jasper Wong, Nosego and many others are taken directly from award-winning literature of the Anisfield-Wolf Book Awards, which recognizes authors exploring ideas of social justice, diversity, and the celebration of all cultures and backgrounds. Each piece is a direct reflection of the artists’ selected inspiration.
